Watchmen, Time, and Editing Pressure

These last two episodes were a complete emotional whirlwind.

What stood out to me most was the editing, specifically how time is handled in the end scene between Angela and Jon. The rhythm and pace amplify the emotional weight of that moment.

When Angela steps out to take care of the 7th Kalvary, hoping to stop the tragic ending that was already foretold, the scene is fast-paced. She is moving quickly, weapon out, shooting at whoever she can. Then Jon, Dr. Manhattan, enters and the scene shifts. The music cues, he starts exploding heads, and the energy changes from frantic to controlled power. You can see clear expansion editing in the slowed bullets and his deliberate movement. It was beautifully shot and edited.

Were my questions answered? Absolutely. In satisfying and shocking ways.

I wondered who Lady Trieudu was, and finding out she was this brilliant scientist who bought MIT after graduating was wild. The most shocking reveal for me was that Cal was Dr. Manhattan all along. That reveal was handled in a magnificent way.

My predictions were completely off from what actually happened.

There are still questions I want answered. Where is Looking Glass? What happens to the FBI agent who was sent to figure out what is happening in Tulsa? I cannot believe the wife was in on it the whole time, though honestly, I kind of can.

So much was answered, and just enough was left open. I am looking forward to the finale to see how everything wraps up.
